Youth development has always been the key of Surya Foundation’s vision for the country. To Widen the scope of this mission Surya Foundation has undertaken the management of the erstwhile Government Sainik School in district Sabarkantha of Gujarat. This school was earlier taken over by the Tribal Development Department of Govt. of Gujarat and run under the aegis of Gujarat State Development Residential Educational Institution Society (GSTDREIS) Surya Foundation took over the management of the School in November 2010 which was renamed SURYA EKLAVYA SAINIK SCHOOL.
The Sainik School is located near village Kherancha in Bhiloda Taluka of district Subarkantha and has been set up for the ST children in the State of Gujarat under the Chief Ministers’ Ten Point Programme Called Vanvandhu Kalyan Yojana for Triba Areas.
The objective of the Sainik School is to impart free quality education co-curricular activities and residential facilities to the ST students and equip them to qualify for the mainstream higher education opportunities.
The focus of training in the Sainik School, therefore, is on good education, personality development, patriotism, sports, health, military training and so on to enable the boys to compete for admission in the defence forces, Civil Services and so on.
In a short span of one year Surya Sainik School has already made it’s mark.
