It is important that our youth imbibe appropriate cultural values and develop physically, mentally and spiritually. Surya Foundation is engaged in development of youth who can work with commitment and a spirit of service to society and the country. To this end it is actively engaged in conducting Personality Development Camps for youth throughout the country. Over 40,000 youth participated in the 1200 such camps conducted last year. The number will grow in the coming years.
Remarkable changes are witnessed in the behaviour, habits and performance in academics of the children who attend these camps. As a result Jhinjholi has become popular for its unique methodology of training. The months from April to June brim with the activities of the participants of the Personality Development Camps. Children learn to develop their personality, leadership qualities and character through a variety of training sessions, games, public speaking sessions, ‘fauji’ training, martial arts, health management, safety and so on. Yoga and Meditation also feature as part of the activities to make them healthy.
The camp provides ample opportunity for the campers, by way of sessions from experts to develop their management skills and leadership qualities. They become more self confident at the end of the camp. Games and sports, competitions and cultural programmes are some of the other attractions of the camp which develop camaraderie and team spirit in addition.
Surya Foundation advocates that with our growing population of youth, India should impart military training to its youth. The stress should be on personality and character development besides military training to prepare them as good citizens and leaders of tomorrow. They would also be available to assist in national development. The training may be conducted in the following manner :
All students in classes 10th & 11th should be put through a three month training camp from June to August. Awarding certificate for Class 12th should be contingent upon successful participation in the Camp.
Students wishing to pursue graduation should compulsorily attend a second camp of threes months duration during June to August of their first year of college. The focus should be on military aspects, leadership, personality development and national integration.
In this manner we will be able to inculcate discipline and military virtues like, self respect, leadership, sacrifice, community service, patriotism, team work and hard work qualities we will always require, in our youth.
